The North West Learn to Care region has 23 Local Authorities from Greater Manchester, Merseyside, Cheshire, Lancashire and Cumbria.
Our national committee member is Wendy Moss (Liverpool City Council).
The active and well-attended group meets regularly in Warrington which is geographically well placed for all members. The membership has long standing and very experienced workforce leads and newer colleagues who bring new ideas and enthusiasm to our meetings. The group has strong links with the North West ADASS and DCS lead Directors for workforce and has representation on the ADASS National Committee to support North West Directors on workforce issues
The Head of Continuing Personal Development and Education Partnerships at Health Education NW and the Skills for Care Regional Manager regularly attend the meetings bringing a great deal of information and expertise to our deliberations. We also invite other guests to meetings to share information, presentations and generally engage on mutually important workforce issues.
As well as its formal agenda, the group provides rich networking opportunities. We undertake benchmarking and sharing best practice and many members have commented on the supportive nature of Learn to Care- particularly in these difficult times when being the workforce lead can sometimes be a difficult place to be.
